Fairfax County Recommends a PRV For Your Home

You may have recently received a letter like this, stating that Fairfax County is changing their water tower and recommends that customers purchase a PRV (Pressure Reducing Valve) for their home by September 2020.

What is a PRV?

PRV is a device that works directly to slow down the pressure of water flowing into your home and is typically installed where the water line enters your home.

How much does it cost to have a PRV installed?

In most cases, Fairfax County will reimburse for the cost and installation of the PRV up to the amount of $500, which covers the amount that we charge for the installation.

Why replace a PRV?

Replacing a PRV can help protect fixtures/toilets from high water pressure, save you money over a period of time, and help reduce the chances of water leaks, water damage to your home, and wear and tear on your pipes.

Do I need a PRV?

County plumbing codes require that PRV's are installed in new construction if the pressure above 80 PSI. Although it is not required for homes that are not new construction, you may choose to install a PRV to meet the new construction code.

Call CroppMetcalfe today or contact us online to schedule an appointment for one of our 5-Star Plumbing Technicians to install a PRV in your home.
