Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Are your products and services safe for my home and family?
A. All of our products are EPA Registered and we follow the exact procedures of the labels. We take pride in using Integrated Pest Management and/or green products as often as possible
Q. Do you provide free evaluations?
A. Yes, in most cases. There may be a charge for providing a WDIR Certificate if you are selling or refinancing your home.
Q. Why not use do-it-yourself products for Pest Control?
A. Over-the-counter products can certainly kill on contact but most provide no residual protection. In addition, their active ingredient is not as effective as the licensed products provided by your pest control company. Plus, there is no substitute for a highly trained 5-Star CroppMetcalfe Pest Control Technician.
Electrical pest devices have been found to have little or no effect on insects and other pests. None of these options will control or eliminate pests at their source like CroppMetcalfe Pest Control.
Q. What are some signs of termites infesting my house?
A. Although our inspectors are trained to inspect your house, you can look for some obvious signs.
- Swarming Termites
These reproductive termites are visible in the Spring months and are usually found around windows, doors, light fixtures, or vents. Even if you don’t see the actual swarm, look for wings or dead termites around these areas.
- Mud Tubes
Termites build "mud" tunnels to travel above ground. These mud tubes provide shelter and protection when they seek wood. You will see them at the base of your foundation or coming up the expansion joints in garages or slab homes. They will also be along baseboards or the wood of your subfloor.
- Damage
Termites damage to wood will sound hollow and if probed, will fall apart rather easily. Clearly we want to prevent this before you see this obvious sign of termites.
Q. Do you offer year-round Pest Control?
A. Yes, we have two policies that you can choose from. Just pick the policy you feel is right for your home.
Q. How do you treat for bed bugs?
A. Bed bugs have made a significant return and really have impacted the Metro DC Area. CroppMetcalfe continues to evolve to keep their treatments effective against this hard to kill pest. Please call or request a free inspection to get a customized plan/treatment for your bed bug problem.
